The massacre of 20 young children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut last December has revived the contentious debate over gun control in the United States.
In the meantime, this company claims that its technology could act as a viable defense against any potential shootings down the road.
Based in the U.K, Concept Smoke Screen develops a smoke screen generator that pumps out vast clouds of smoke that obscure an assailant’s vision. The company claims that this tech, paired with an ear-shattering alarm and strobe lights, should be enough to send a gunman running.
We’re not entirely convinced this is the best solution, however.
True, without vision, a gunman wouldn’t be able to target victims accurately. But it also means that innocent bystanders wouldn’t be able to see, either. And the lights and siren would be just as disorienting to them.
Still, anything that can defend against future brutality is certainly worthy of consideration.
