Yesterday, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) rolled out its new iPad, which is being referred to by some as “iPad New” and by others as “iPad 3.” The new iPad’s upgraded features include 4G LTE, a faster processor, a 5-megapixel camera and 1080p video recording capabilities.
But the most talked about upgrade is the use of Apple’s “retina display” technology and the increase in screen resolution – four times that of the previous iPad model – which Apple anticipates will further attract game developers and designers to the platform.
However, there are questions over the relative worth of the upgrades, Apple has come under increased competition in the tablet market from dozens of Android device manufacturers. This has most analysts agreeing that in order to stay fresh and competitive, Apple has to keep releasing these incremental upgrades to its devices, whether they “wow” the crowd or not.
