Water-Gen Delivers Water From the Desert Air

Getting water to troops is often costly and dangerous, but an Israeli startup, Water-Gen, has developed a portable device that generates large amounts of water straight from desert air.

The company says the system will offer troops in conflict zones a cheap and safe way to stay hydrated, as it cuts the need for transportation and can portably supply five to 16 gallons of water a day.

Water-Gen’s CEO, Arye Kohavi, believes the device has applications outside of the military and that its use will become more prevalent in organization like the United Nations, which could feasibly use its hydration capabilities for humanitarian aid.
