Chinese High Court Begins Apple’s iPad Appeal
Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is attempting to tackle its trademark dispute with Chinese company, Proview. Overseeing the dispute is the Higher People’s Court of Guangdong, which began appeal hearings on Wednesday. Apple’s appeal comes after a lower court ruling sided with Proview.
The dispute dates back to 2009, when Apple purchased the iPad trademark from Proview. But the smaller company claims the deal doesn’t extend to China. Proview’s lawyer is confident that Apple’s appeal will be dismissed, as no new evidence has been offered on the tech giant’s behalf “to overrule the original verdict.”
