If you’re going to make money through investing - whether it’s with stocks, bonds, or commodities - you better be able to process the endless amounts of data that flows through the market. 

Market analysis primarily comes in two forms. There’s technical analysis, which involves picking apart metrics like P/E ratios and trading volume. And there’s fundamental analysis, or investigating financial statements, management techniques, competition, etc.
