    Great article, Chris. I own a few REIT’s that have taken a hit. How do they compare to the rest of the dividend paying stocks in S&P 500? GOV in particular is my heaviest investment. Thank you in advance for cash-flow info that you can provide.

    Valuable information. I would be interested in the sub-ratio of dividend payouts to those attributed to buybacks. Is that detail available?

    Thank you for your comment! In 2014, buybacks accounted for 60.8% of distributions (again, for non-financial S&P 500 companies). Dividends accounted for 39.2% of distributions.
