Apple Parts Ways With Samsung

It looks like the patent battle between Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Samsung (London: BC94) is taking its toll on the companies’ partnership after all.

Although Samsung has been the top supplier for retina displays in the iPad and iPhone 4, Apple ignored the South Korean manufacturer when it selected companies to produce screens for the upcoming iPhone 5.

Companies like LG (NYSE: LPL), Japan Display and Sharp (Tokyo: 6753) are now on the list to supply advanced displays for the highly anticipated device.

The rumor mill has also been saying that Sharp’s television displays are going to find their way into the next potential blockbuster hit from Apple – the iTV.

If it’s true, the timing couldn’t be better for Sharp. And not just because its Aquos flat-screen business is struggling…
